Potatoe Fish Pie with Carrots in Sweet Soy Sauce filling

A potatoe Fish pie with carrots in Sweet soy sauce filling,,,Today I have one of my recipes that I add baking powder and flour in mashed potatoes; Reason is to let rise during the baking process, that keep firm and at the same time soft and crispy. Those winter days we think in comfort food and hence this potato pie; For the preparation you need some love and time for the best result,,,,With carrots, sweet soy sauce, topped with fish,parsley,spring onions,cheese,,,and of course it is easy to prepare too,Enjoy!

Ingredients for the Potatoe Pie

  • 800g Potatoes for the mashed potatoes
  • 400 g for the first layer (Bottom of the pie)
  • 400g for the second layer (After the carrots) * for the mix seefood
  • 8 large Carrots (cut into pieces and cooked)
  • Mix seefood or fish laftovers
  • Frozen Fish (small pieces
  • 1 Fish Stock cube
  • 2 onions (chopped)
  • 2tbsp Sweet Soy sauce
  • 1tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 150 ml of milk
  • 40g of butter
  • Vegetable oil or coconut oil


For the Mashed Potatoes

  • 800g mashed potatoes
  • 40g butter
  • 150 ml of milk
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1tsp baking powder

The baking powder and flour allow the mashed potatoes to stay firm after



  1. Peel the potatoes and cut into pieces.
  2. Boil in water with salt (if you like) for about 20 minutes.
  3. In the meantime, heat the milk in a saucepan over low heat, but do not let it boil.
  4. Mash the potatoes with the puree tamper.
  5. Add the milk and butter and stir lightly with a whisk until the butter is completely melted.
  6. Add the all-purpose flour, baking powder in the mashed potatoes
  7. Season with salt and pepper if desired
  • With the half of the mashed potatoes (seefood mix) follow instructions
  1. Fry 1 onion until they soften
  2. Add the seafood mix and fry for 5 minutes and keep stirring
  3. Add the fish stock and a little water and keep cooking until the moisture reduces, check the taste with salt and pepper
  4. Mix the seafood with half of the mashed potatoes and keep it separate for the assembly from the pie

For the Carrots sweet soy sauce

  • 8  large carrots (Cut into pieces and cooked)
  • 1 chopped onion
  • 2 tbsp Sweet Soy sauce


  1. Fry the onion with a little oil, very short and add the carrots and keep frying
  2. Add the sweet soy sauce and a little water for about 15 minutes

Assemble the Pie

  1. Grease a baking pie with a little butter
  2. Add the mashed potatoes
  3. Than the carrots mixture
  4. And then the mashed potatoes with the seafood mix
    * with a bit of the seafood mashed potatoes make a few croquettes and put on the top of the pie, decorate with grated cheese, parsley and Bake in the oven 180°c for 25–30 minutes, or until heated through and golden brown and serve immediately
